Cross Compliance

November 09, 2016 at 9:57 AM

Rule changes come into force in January 2017 with regard to GAEC 1 – Establishment of buffer strips along watercourses:-

From 1st January 2017 land parcels of 2 hectares or less next to watercourses will have to comply with the need to protect watercourses against pollution and run-off from agricultural sources, by maintaining buffer strips.  Keep an eye on our website for ALL cross compliances key points month by month.

Sheep and Cattle movements have finally been made easier.  The TLA (Temporary Land Association) and TCPH (Temporary Holding Number) are now available to all farmers, however forms will need to be filled out and for more information please do not hesitate to contact Kathryn Williams on 07971 583638 or by email

26th November 2016 – all in-use pesticide application equipment over five years old, with the exception of knapsack and handheld sprayers, must have passed an inspection by the National Sprayer Testing scheme (NSTS) within the last 5 years.  This will affect sprayers with booms greater than three metres, which must be inspected at least once by 2016, at intervals of no more than five years between 2016 and 2020.  After 2020 the intervals must be no greater than three years.

The NSTS is the only body designed to inspect and certify pesticide application equipment for use therefore, having equipment tested by an approved NSTS examiner is the only way to stay compliant.
