Deadline extended to apply for dairy fund

September 02, 2020 at 2:19 PM

Dairy farmers in England who suffered significant milk price cuts in April because of COVID-19 disruptions now have until September 11 to apply for financial help from the Government’s Dairy Response Fund

Qualifying farmers have to demonstrate a reduction in the average price paid for their milk of 25 per cent or more in April 2020 when compared with February 2020.

“Milk Prices dropped dramatically due to falling demand for milk from coffee shops and restaurants and eligible dairy farmers will be entitled to up to £10,000 each with the amount of payment calculated on around 70 per cent of their losses from actual milk sales incurred as a result of the price drop during April and May,” said Kathryn Williams at Davis Meade Property Consultants, Oswestry.

“If you are a cross-border farmer with land in another part of the UK as well as in England, you may apply if the majority of your land is located in England and you received your Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) 2019 payment from RPA.”
