Environmental Countryside Stewardship

The new RDPE started on 1st January 2015 and DEFRA will spent £3.5 billion during the 2014-2020 RD period.  It is focused on 3 main areas:  managing the environment; increasing farming and forestry productivity and growing the rural economy.

Countryside Stewardship is the new single integrated agri-environmental scheme.  It is made up of 3 strands:

Higher Tier - predominantly invitation led application process for environmentally significant sides

Mid Tier - competitively scored and successful applications will have a five year multi-annual agreement

Capital Grants - 1-2 year grants for boundaries, water quality improvement, woodland creation etc
