English Delinked Payment Update 2025

Following the latest budget announcement, DEFRA have revealed the total reductions to BPS delinked payments in 2025.

For 2025, Defra plan to apply a 76% reduction to the first £30,000 of a payment, while any payments above £30,000, will receive a 100% reduction.

For example:

If the amount received from direct payments in 2020 was £50,000:

  • 76% reduction applied to the first £30,000 – a reduction of £22,800

  • 100% reduction applied to the remaining £20,000

  • Payments would be reduced to £7,200 for 2025

Next Steps for Farmers:

Access Alternative Funding: Farmers and landowners can still seek support through Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), Countryside Stewardship (CS) and other programs aimed at sustainability. £400m in capital funding has been pledged over the next two years for tree planting and peatland restoration, and a small increase in funding to support flood defences and farm flood schemes.

This highlights the need to receive advice and guidance ahead of these changes and to start looking into your options to support you though this agricultural transition.
