The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2026
Apply before the 12th May!

The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2026 from Defra provides grants to help farmers, growers and contractors invest in eligible equipment that delivers efficiency, environmental benefits and improved animal welfare.

 

Who Can Apply?

 

✔ Farming, horticultural or forestry businesses based in England

✔ Farm and forestry contractors

✔ Businesses registered with the Rural Payments service with a valid SBI

 

Animal Health & Welfare grants are available to businesses farming:

• Beef or dairy cattle

• Sheep

• Pigs

• Laying or broiler chickens

 

What Funding Is Available?

 

You can apply for up to three separate grants — one per theme:

 

🔹 Productivity

🔹 Slurry Management

🔹 Animal Health & Welfare

 

Each grant application must be between £1,000 and £25,000.

Separate applications are required for each theme.

 

Grants cover 40% or 50% of the item’s expected average cost (or actual cost if lower). You will need to fund the remaining balance.

 

Application Window

 

📅 Opens: 17 March 2026

📅 Closes: Midday, 28 April 2026

 

Applications are submitted online via the Farming Investment Fund service and are assessed competitively.

 

Eligible Equipment

 

Full specification lists for eligible equipment can be accessed here:

 

 

 

 

 

• Items must be selected from the approved specification lists

• Equipment must meet minimum technical standards

• Items must be new or ex-display

• Do not purchase items before receiving a Grant Funding Agreement (unless refundable deposit rules apply)

• Equipment must be retained for at least 5 years after payment
